Instant word problems deal with solving algebraic word problems with the help of algebraic expressions and using basic algebraic functions.  Instant word problem comes under all the branches of mathematics. To solve the given instant word problems we need to derive the mathematical derivation. Here we are going to discuss algebraic instant word problems. Instant word problem examples:


Example 1:

Jagan can do a certain work in the same time in which Raju and Somu together can do it. If Jagan and Raju together could do it in 10 days and Somu alone in 50 days, then B alone could do it in?

Solution:

(Jagan + Raju)'s 1 day's work = 1 / 10

Tom 1 day's work = 1 / 50.

(Jagan + Raju + Somu)'s 1 day's work     = {1/10 + 1/50}

= 5 / 50 + 1/ 50

= (5+1)/50

=6/50

=3/25--------------(1)

Jagan day's work = (Raju + Somu)'s 1 day's work .------- (2)

From (i) and (ii), we get: 2 x (Jagan ‘s1 day's work) = 3/25

Jagan ‘s1 day's work = 3/50

Raju ‘s1 day's work {1/10 – 3/50} = 1/25

So, Raju alone could do the work in 25 days.

Example 2:

Angle is thrice as good as worker as Marie and therefore he is able to finish a job in 60 days less than Marie. When they working together, how long they can do it in?

Solution:-

Given Angle is thrice as good as work man as Marie.

Therefore the ratio of work done Angle and Marie is 1: 3

If difference of time is 2 days, Marie takes 3 days.

If difference of time is 60 days, Marie takes (3/2 x 60) = 90 days.

So, Angle takes 30 days to do the work.

So Angle s one day work = 1/30

Marie one day work = 1/90

Now (Angle + Marie) one day work = (1/30 + 1/90)

The LCM of 30 and 90 is 90.

Now take LCM and add we get

= 3 / 90 + 1/ 90

= (3+ 1)/ 90

=4/ 90

=2/45

Angle and Marie together can do the work in 45 / 2 = 22 ½ days.


Practice instant word problem:


Ram can do a certain work in the same time in which Thanesh and Ram together can do it. If Ram and Thanesh together could do it in 20 days and Ram alone in 60 days, solve how many days did Thanesh alone do it?

Answer: So, Thanesh alone could do the work in 20 days.
